Education

BOM delivers a wide range of STEAM based enriching education to young learners. Our aim is to nurture and inspire young people to develop their STEM skills through alternative creativity.

We encourage our young learners to develop enquiring minds and critical thinking by running hands-on workshops where learners get into the nitty gritty of a bacterial skinned autopsy or discuss with our Resident practitioners about their careers in digital arts or use Ardoino’s to code LED lights for their own version of the commonwealth baton.

CoderDojo

CoderDojo is a free coding club for 7 – 14 year olds to develop visual programming, coding and digital art skills. The sessions have a main topic for the month and learners are taught step by step how to create the project which is either using Scratch, Micro:bits or in Open Processing.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a week of technology workshops for 7-14 year olds that are run in the last week of the summer holidays. The week of summer camp is themed around BOM’s wider projects. This year we are focusing on the work we have completed around the Commonwealth Baton.

Workshops will be run by our team of baton creators to learn how to code LED lights, investigate materials and how to solder them together so that learners will be able to design and create their own version of the baton.
