Coder Beatz a new creative digital programme for young Black kids aged between 11-15 years.
We are running 4 monthly workshops at BOM (please look for updates in our calendar). Coder Beatz is a beginners series of amazing workshops where children will learn how to create music and visuals through live coding and algorithms. Each month children will develop their skills through interactive, engaging and fun activities. By the end of the beginners course they will be able to:
- code rhythms,
- create sound effects,
- animate with coded GIF’s
- arrange live coding with their animations
- share their visual/musical work
The sessions will be delivered by former BOM Fellow Antonio Roberts. Antonio is an internationally renowned digital artist and expert coder. Being a man of colour, Antonio is really passionate about inspiring young Black kids to get skilled up on live coding with music and visual art. The hope is that, in the future, there will be other Black live coding digital artists performing along side Antonio!
Participants will not need any music or tech experience and we will provide laptops and headphones for them.
Due to social distancing guidelines, we only have 10 spaces available.
