I’m a digital designer, a steering group member of China West Midlands 2020, and pioneering member of Chinese Living Blog. Having lived in the UK for the majority of my life, I have witnessed first-hand how British Chinese are often under-represented, long being referred to as a ‘silent minority’, whether in politics, the art & culture scene or wider society. Within this minority, women are the quietest of them all. If these stories were never told, will the group cease to exist? Through the BOM Fellowship, I’ll be using technology and online spaces to investigate the cultural identity of British Chinese women in the UK, helping share everyday experiences, aspirations and sacrifice, and examine the ways in which Eastern backgrounds influence upbringing in Chinese households.
