Sonja Zelic

I am a visual artist and filmmaker. I work across a range of media including installation, audio, video and writing. My work explores the complexity of communication, and is informed by stories, conversations, research, personal experience, and our relationship with the physical, social, and emotional environment. I am interested in exploring this further in the context of BOM, looking at autistic embodiment and cognitive difference and the creative possibilities generated in documenting the impact of neurotypical systems on neurodivergent bodies. The majority of my art practice is based on some form of collaboration either directly or indirectly. A recent example of this would be the successful delivery of the Beholder project with UVA in 2018. For my Fellowship at BOM, I’m interested in further developing opportunities that arise from collaborative work.
