BOM+ presents…A Sequence of Events
Oct 12, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
BOM+ Presents… A Sequence of Events.
- Are you unfamiliar with your own genes?
- Are you not sure what DNA actually does?
- Does genetics sounds like jibberish to you?
BOM+ is a creative collective of young people (16-25 year olds) exploring the cutting edge of science and ethics through art and tech. BOM+ invites you to investigate, speculate and discuss genetic diversity and DNA through ‘A Sequence of Events’, a short programme of free interactive workshops, panels and installations.
The event will be exploring some key ethical and moral challenges within genetics as part of an open forum, to encourage exchange of ideas and enhance dialogue on the past, present and future of genetics in society. We’ll also be joined by researchers from the University of Birmingham who will share insights from the lab and answer your questions in what will be a fun, engaging and thought-provoking evening open to all.
6-6.30pm: Sequence G: Greet & Meet, with welcome drinks and snacks
6:30-7pm: Sequence C: Conversations with researchers
7-8.30pm: Sequence A: Activities & workshops
8.30-9pm: Sequence T: Thoughts to takeaway
This event is FREE and EVERYONE is welcome. BOM+ are also looking for new members so if you or someone you know is interested in getting involved in future activities this is a great opportunity to meet with the current group to find out about the programme. The event is produced in partnership with the Public Engagement with Research team at University of Birmingham.
You can book through Eventbrite or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: There will be photography & filming taking place at this event. Please let the organizers know if this is a problem.
