Oct 29 - Nov 8
As part of a collaboration led by Phoenix (Leicester), alongside Quad (Derby), Vivid Projects (Birmingham) Furtherfield (London) and The Photographers Gallery (London) we’re involved in an online exhibition which will explore alternative web protocols and careful networking on a peer to peer network (P2P).
The project aims to encourage more people to explore P2P networks and spark discussions around the ethics of making and showing work online, as well as exploring more sustainable web practices. In its simplest form, a peer-to-peer (P2P) network is created when two or more computers are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer.
As part of #CarefulNetworks, 12 artists will be finding new and engaging ways to create digital artwork suitable to the P2P format.
Each artwork will be hosted by another artist and the network will exist through a collaborative act of care and stewardship. Get involved and participate in the care of the network! The exhibition will launch on a temporary P2P network on 29th October before being archived and available on regular web browsers during Leicester Art Week in November.
