Data Cult – An Instructional Event for Humans

November 6th 2017, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Marking the mid-point of the Instructions for Humans exhibition at BOM, Pete Ashton is proud, nay, delighted to present two performances by Emily Warner and Aleks Wojtulewicz devised as an integral part of the show.

Set in a world where all the tracking and surveillance devices, from Fitbits to CCTV cameras, and their attendant AI systems, have suddenly vanished, members of the Data Cult are desperately trying to record their activities, developing rituals to encourage their devices to return.

The works are durational in form, responding to data and ideas generated during the exhibition. Emily’s will take place entirely on the 6th while Aleks’ will present the culmination of a week of work in the gallery. Emily will be accompanied by official Instructions for Humans transcriber Karen Cameron.

Tickets are free but places are limited so please only book if you are sure you can attend.
