Deep Dream meetup
July 21st 2015, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Thanks to everyone who came – here’s some resources!
The aesthetic associated with neural network deep dream imagery has quickly become a cliche, coming to a cutting edge music video near you soon, but there’s still something fascinating going on here. The images are actually a byproduct of trying to visualise and understand how this neural network, a vastly simplified analogy of a human brain, makes associations and “understands” an image based on its experience of other images. (There’s a great explanation here)
So what we’re seeing is images illustrating how images are understood through pattern association.
This meetup, overlapping with the regular Tuesday Open Code meetup, is for people who’ve been playing with deep dreams and would like to share their notes about this new way to pull images from machines.
If you can get this to run on your computer you’re competent enough, and if you’re having trouble someone should be able to help you. But ideally this is for people who’ve produced a few dreams and want to take it further.
Organised by Pete Ashton, who will give a short introduction around 6.30pm. Free entry.
