(CANCELLED) Swoomptheeng: Tha Daance Maast
December 6th 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
In collaboration with BOM Fellow and creative technologist, Ben Neal, join Swoomptheeng for a playtest of their new artwork “Tha Daance Maast” – an LED-lit wooden tower, sound system and multiplayer game.
Come along to help Swoomptheeng trial this new interactive, musical game, which sees up to eight players working together to write their own music. “Tha Daance Maast” game sees players positioning sounds in a loop using wacky, handheld wooden controllers. With influences and references to traditional folk dances, club culture, fairground rides and parades, “Tha Daance Maast” allows players to participate as individuals whilst also creating harmony within a group. In post-Brexit Britain, this work acts as a subtle metaphor for the individual finding harmony within a group given ever-changing circumstances, offering a playable collaborative experience.
Swoomptheeng is currently in the testing stage and are keen to find ways of improving their new artwork, so any comments and feedback that you have would be really appreciated, you can stay for as long or as little as you like!
“Tha Daance Maast” is free to attend, but please register here.
